Valdosta City Schools Open Transfer Request Application Period for 2024-2025 School Year
The Valdosta City Schools (VCS) district has announced that the transfer request application period for the 2024-2025 school year is now open. This process allows families to request a transfer for their child to a school within the district outside of their designated attendance zone.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for a transfer request, students must meet the following criteria:
- Be a current VCS student or a rising kindergartener
- Have a valid reason for requesting the transfer, such as:
- Educational needs not being met at the current school
- Medical reasons
- Safety concerns
- Family emergencies
Application Process
The transfer request application can be accessed online through the VCS website. The deadline to submit an application is February 17, 2024.
The application process involves the following steps:

- Submit the completed application form and supporting documentation to the Admissions Office located at 1204 Williams Street, Valdosta.
- Attend a brief interview with a school administrator to further discuss the transfer request.
Review and Approval Process
All transfer requests will be reviewed by a Transfer Review Committee. The committee will consider the following factors in making its decision:

- The availability of space at the requested school
- The educational and social impact on both the student and the schools involved
- The student's academic record and behavior
- The district's overall enrollment and staffing needs
Approval of transfer requests is not guaranteed. The district will notify applicants of the committee's decision no later than March 15, 2024.
Transportation
Students approved for a transfer may be eligible for transportation services provided by VCS. Transportation arrangements will be finalized after the transfer decision is made.
