Method 1: Using the Registry Editor
Step 1: Open the Registry Editor

- Type "regedit" and press Enter.
Step 2: Navigate to the Target Key
- In the Registry Editor window, expand the following key:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate
Step 3: Create a New DWORD Value
- Right-click inside the "WindowsUpdate" key and select "New" > "DWORD (32-bit) Value."
- Name the new value "TargetReleaseVersion."
Step 4: Set the Value Data
- Double-click on the "TargetReleaseVersion" value and set the "Value data" to "2024."
- Click "OK" to save the changes.
Method 2: Using Group Policy Editor
Step 1: Open the Group Policy Editor (Local)
- Press "Windows Key + R" to open the Run dialog box.
- Type "gpedit.msc" and press Enter.
Step 2: Navigate to the Target Policy Setting
- In the Group Policy Editor window, expand the following settings:
- Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components
Step 3: Configure the Policy Setting
- Click on the "Windows Update" folder.
- On the right side, double-click on the "Specify target version for feature updates" policy.
- Select the "Enabled" option.
- In the "Target version for feature updates" field, enter "2024."
- Click "OK" to save the changes.
Method 3: Using Media Creation Tool (Clean Install)
Step 1: Download Media Creation Tool
- Visit the Microsoft Windows 11 download page (https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11).
- Click on the "Download now" button.
Step 2: Create Installation Media
- Insert a USB flash drive (at least 8GB).
- Run the downloaded Media Creation Tool.
- Select the option to "Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file)."
- Follow the on-screen instructions to create the installation media.
Step 3: Perform Clean Install
- Boot from the created installation media.
- Select your language and other preferences.
- On the "Install now" screen, click on the "Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)."
- Select your drive and click "Next."
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the clean installation.
Method 4: Using Windows Update Assistant (Upgrade)
Step 1: Download Windows Update Assistant
- Visit the Microsoft Windows 11 download page (https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11).
- Click on the "Download Windows 11" button.
Step 2: Run Windows Update Assistant
- Run the downloaded Windows Update Assistant.
- Click on the "Accept and Install" button.
Step 3: Choose Upgrade Installation
- When prompted, select the "Upgrade this PC now" option.
- Click on the "Next" button.
Step 4: Initiate Upgrade
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the upgrade process.
Additional Notes:
- Installing a preview update may cause compatibility issues with some drivers and software.
- It is recommended to create a system image or backup before installing any updates.
- Once the Windows 11 2024 Update (version 24H2) is released, you can use the same methods to install it on your computer.
