Leadership Upshur Debuts Inaugural Cohort, Unveils Application Deadline

Leadership Upshur, a program meticulously crafted to empower individuals to become effective leaders within the county, has proudly announced the commencement of its inaugural cohort and the official application deadline of August 1, 2024.

This transformative program is meticulously designed to cultivate a cadre of dynamic leaders who are deeply invested in the betterment of Upshur County. Through an immersive 10-month journey, participants will delve into the intricacies of local government, economic development, healthcare, education, and social services. They will forge enduring connections with community leaders, gain hands-on experience through meaningful projects, and emerge with a profound understanding of the county's unique strengths and challenges.

The Leadership Upshur curriculum is meticulously structured to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the county's diverse sectors. Monthly sessions will feature guest speakers, interactive discussions, and immersive site visits, delving into topics such as:

Government and Public Policy: Participants will gain insights into the inner workings of local government, examining the roles and responsibilities of elected officials, county departments, and community organizations.
Economic Development: They will explore the economic landscape of Upshur County, identifying opportunities for growth, diversification, and job creation.
